In loving memory of Ivan Brailsford who sadly passed away on 16th April 2018

Dad asked if we could wear bright clothing, he wanted no sadness just a celebration of his life which would be reflected within coloured clothes. So please feel free to be comfortable within your choices for the day.

Dad is a kind and generous man, who would help out anyone with a problem. He was loved by all his family as he was such a great Father and Grandad to his two Grandsons. He worshipped them both and anything they wanted if he could get it for them he would. He would help me out with anything also if possible. Wheather it be, sit with the boys while Lee & I had some time together, from a few hours to a couple of days such as when we went on our honeymoon for five days. He looked after them making sure they were well looked after each and every time. They loved him dearly and are absolutely heartbroken he is no longer here to talk to or just for a cuddle.

Lee & I are also finding it difficult as he was the one to call if anything was wrong, car not quite right or leaking pipe, he would come and have a look. If we struggled with money, especially when I had to have some time off work (4/5 Months) he helped us out greatly by helping us pay the Mortgage which gave us some breathing space until I was well enough to return to work again. Helped us each and every time he was called upon and for that, I will always be grateful. We weren't allowed to pay him back in any way as he would say "I won't lend you money, I will give you some to help you" True star my Dad.

We all enjoyed a week away to Cornwall which is coming up to two years ago, he loved it down there with all of us. We had a great holiday spending time down there and with him also.

I cannot imagine how hard things would have been without him around, being there every step I took. Always had my back he did and now it's my turn to stand up tall and try to fill the void he has left behind.

He always would talk about his boys, Lee included in this as he lovingly welcomed him into our family when we got married in 2015. He said he was proud of us all and how we all helped look after him as his illness started to change his life. I never thought I would be able to wipe his bum, but I managed it on several occasions. I can say it wasn't nice seeing him that ill and unable to do it for himself, but I would not, not help him and all I can say is "He looked after me from being born until the day he passed, so when he was ill it was my turn to look after him the best I could until the day came I could no longer help him" He told us all how proud he was to have us in his life, and all I can say to that is it was a pleasure to have you as my Dad, boys Grandad and Lee's Father in Law.

He's also left a large void in his Brother and Sisters lives as he was the naughty younger brother to them both. I cannot thank Aunty Janice & Terry for visiting him as much as they could in the morning times when we would be working. Helping brighten up his spirits and having a good talk about all sorts I'm sure. She helped him shave and do his teeth when I didn't, well let's face it there not the best jobs are they (Sorry Aunty Janice x) Uncle David also visited and when she could Aunty Angela would pop in and see how he was getting on, talking no doubt about Belvoir where they would go beating and working the dogs and enjoying themselves.

Many of Dad's friends popped in either for a long or short time but it wouldn't matter as he was grateful to everyone for the time taken out to see him, I thank everyone for this, it made his day and gave us something to speak about too.

Dad, although in Hospital loved everyone who worked on his ward (Ward 24) they all work as a great team and he enjoyed winding them up, having a good chat and each and every one of them have done such a fantastic job on there. We all appreciate everything you do, every day not only for Dad but everyone else on the ward. It's not the easiest of job's I'm sure but you made it look so easy and always with a smile and a happiness you don't see on other wards and in other Hospitals. Thank you from Dad, and from us, as a family, we truly appreciate everything you all do, whatever position you hold on there.

We were so proud of you fighting your illness for as long as you did, and in the end after having permission to stop fighting from us all you finally went to sleep. It was my Honour to call you my Dad and be there as you passed over, holding your hand tight until you were gone.

We love you Dad, always will.

Your boys

Stuart, Lee, Jaidn & Rylee

Well what can I say??
I had the pleasure of knowing Ivan for nearly 10 years, my first encounter was at Belvoir estate, on a shoot day. It was very wet and cold, we stood in front of the fire at lunchtime, where I ended up melting my waterproof trousers!! Ivan immediately came back with a pair of expensive trousers for me. I returned them the next day, for him to say keep them. I was very touched by his kindness. He and Bart and the rest of his picking up team were a regular sight on shoot days. He was always laughing and joking. We talked alot one of his proudest topics were his son and grandsons. There was never a time where he didn't say how proud he was of them all. I looked upto Ivan, as he was the most amazing role model of a father and grandfather anyone could ask for.
I miss our banter on shoot days, heaven has most certainly gained an amazing man.
May you rest in peace Ivan.
Love Lou. Xxx

Well well well ignore I’m not in a bucket full of tears after that message I don’t know who’s not :( .. I only knew Ivan since august last year when I started on ward 24 but my god he made looking after him a pleasure. He would brighten up our days on a daily basis. He would buzz to tell us to eat some chocolate to keep our energy up. When I felt down he would always tell me to sit beside him and have ten mins to cool off. This man was a very genoerus and kind man that would put every one else first. He will greatly be missed. Ivan was one of the good ones that make you want to come to work and care for to make sure he was well and comfortable. He told me a few story’s about his laugh that made me laugh and some that made me cry. I will miss you Ivan all the women you had in your life didn’t know what they had when they had. You had a wonderful suporting family to get you through your tough time and a ward of carers and nurses even the domestic and hostesses that cared for you muchly. Sad to see you go but your finally at peace in no pain. Love you Ivan will 110% always be missed <3 xx

Many memories I have of you but the one that always is at the forefront of my mind is the time you and our Craig swam to the island in Spain and both ended up red raw with sun burn. I also remember our visits to Chatsworth country fair the walks along the quarry where you would scare me with stories of grass snakes hiding in the fields and i also always enjoyed the times I dropped Amy off at home and we would tease you about various things but you would give it back. During these times you would always speak of your grandsons and the love you had for them radiated from you and it was clear to see that you absolutely adored them.
I also suppose the bond you and my dad had/have is also something that will always stay in my mind as you were as close as brothers could be and everyone knew you were brothers. You also had the shared interest in hunting, shooting and dogs and this was also passed on to my brother who also spent many a night with you sharing this interest. With regards to your dogs they were also a big part of your life and i suppose special thanks are needed to Stuart who looked after these whilst you were Ill which to me shows the depths friends would go to for you as you would them.
You will always be missed but you will always be alive in our thoughts and memories as I used to tell you it's not good bye it's see you again
Love you lots Ellie xxxxxxxxx
